[NEWS] WEB 3.0 Forum Foundation Commemoration Symposium 2023

The Electronic Newspaper and the Web 3.0 Forum will hold the Web 3.0 Forum Foundation Ceremony and Symposium 2023 at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on March 15.

The Web 3.0 Forum was launched in February with industry, academia, research, and government experts elected Kim Dae-sik, president of Gyeongnam Information University, as the first chairman to discover new growth engines based on Web 3.0.

Jang Je-won, Heo Seong-wook, head of the Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency, Lee Won-tae, head of the Information and Communication Planning Agency, Hwang Jong-sung, head of the Korea Information Society Agency, Ban Ki-sik, chairman of BNK Financial Group (Nae Jeong-ja), Moon Joo-hyun, chairman of the MDM Group, and Kim Sang-soo will attend the Korea Software Association.

The Web 3.0 Symposium offers discussions and lectures by top domestic and foreign experts. The first keynote speech will be presented under the theme of “Web 3.0 Economy and Paradigm Change” by Clemens Wan, Global Solution Design Manager at Consensys, an Ethereum (ETH) infrastructure developer. It presents decentralization trends and technology and market visions such as Crypto Economy, DAO, DeFi, and NFT. The second keynote lecture will be presented by Oh Se-hyun, vice president of SK Telecom (in charge of Web3CO), who is paying attention to Web 3.0 as a new growth engine.

The keynote will be followed by a discussion of governance directions for spreading and enabling Web 3.0. Park Soo-yong, a professor at Sogang University, will lead the panel, and Lee Jung-yeop, chairman of Blockchain Law (judge), Park Yong-beom, president of the Korea Blockchain Association, and Park Hye-jin, a professor at the Seoul Graduate School of Science, will discuss system improvement and regulatory reform to secure global leadership on Web 3.0.

The afternoon session will consist of a topic presentation by Web 3.0 promising areas.

Tilon CEO Choi Baek-joon (metaverse), Mentisco CEO Yoon Jung-hyun (global ecosystem), Clayton Foundation Chairman Seo Sang-min (blockchain), Mammoth Foundation Chairman Baek Jong-yun (decentralization), Busan Bank Managing Director Kim Sang-hwan (digital asset platform strategy), and Coinplug Director Heo Won-ho (new business and strategy) share examples and strategies on each field.

If Web 3.0 was an era of data use and profit monopolization led by platform giants, Web 3.0 is a decentralized technology and trend that focuses on individual rights, ownership, and profit, and is based on information or data reliability.
